Fuxian LakeLocated in close proximity to Yuxi and 60 kilometres from Kunming, the Fuxian Lake stretches across Chengjiang, Jiangchuan and Huaning counties. Biyun Mountain and Guanyu CaveTourists who begin the ascent to Biyun Temple (Temple of Azure Clouds) will find a picturesque scene to behold at the top. Those who prefer a more laidback vacation can choose to get on a cruise around the scenic lake. Gushan IslandGushan Island is enclosed by the waters of the Fuxian Lake, which is in turn located among rolling hills. Haimen RiverWater from Xingyun Lake flows into Fuxian Lake via the Haimen River, also called Gehe River. Although the Haimen River is just slightly longer than two kilometres, it is flanked by scenic hills, bodies of water as well as captivating rocks and caves. Liangwang MountainLiangwang Mountain is the highest mountain in Dianzhong, at 2,820 metres above sea level. Liangwang Mountain’s majestic beauty comes from it overlooking four beautiful lakes, namely Dianchi Lake, Yangzonghai Lake, Fuxian Lake and Xingyun Lake. Jinlian MountainIn ancient times, Jinlian Mountain was known as “Laozhuang Shan” or ‘Guishan” (Tortoise Hill). It’s even and rounded twin peaks bear resemblance to a lake of lotuses in full bloom. Maotian MountainMaotian Mountain got its name from its striking resemblance to a straw hat; “Mao” is Mandarin for “hat”. At a mere 2,026 metres above sea level, Maotian Mountain was once an ordinary mountain located at the East of Fuxian Lake and the Chengjiang dam. Tiantou MountainLocated on the west bank of Fuxian Lake, Tiantou Mountain is a diminutive mountain about 2,000 metres above sea level. Maotian Mountain’s story repeated itself at Tiantou Mountain, albeit in a revised edition. Bijia Hill, Qilin HillAt the West bank of Fuxian Lake, at the North of Luchong fishing village, sits Bijia Hill. Its name can be attributed to its three peaks that form the shape of a brush stand, or “Bijia” in Mandarin. Lijia HillAt 1,778 metres above sea level, Lijia Hill is a 60-metre tall hill branching out from the Duoyi Mountain range along Xingyun Lake, and it appears to be skewing towards the Southeast direction. Xilong TanFive kilometres from the city, Xilong Tan is a deep pool at the foot of Longtou Mountain, which is located to the Northwest of Chengjiang dam. Donglong TanLocated at a distance of three kilometres from the city, Donglong Tan is located to the East of Chengjiang, at the foot of Huazang Mountain. Qixi TanThe Huaning County on the East bank of Fuxian Lake is aptly known as “the home of springs”. On an area of 1,313 square kilometres, numerous springs are found almost everywhere you turn. Zhenzhu SpringZhenzhu Spring, aka “the glazed pearls”, is situated outside Fulude Village of Qinglong Town, Huaning. It covers an area of just about one Mu (acreage). Yingyue TanYingyue Tan, aka Shuangyue Tan, is situated in the Chongmai Village, which is 10 kilometres away from the West of Huaning. Xiangbi SpringXiangbi Spring is a hot spring flowing by the bank of Fuxian Lake. Its beauty has inspired a poem that goes like this: “Great springs of the universe do not be arrogant, as waters in Wenzhao concede to Huaning. Reshui PoolIf you venture on a 30-minute ride from the Northeast bank of Fuxian Lake towards the East, you will find a rustic hot spring area named the Reshui Pool. It is the richest hot spring area found along Fuxian Lake, with water outlets beginning from the foothill all the way into the bottom of Fuxian Lake. Zaojie Hot SpringZaojie Hot Spring is situated at the foot of Lijia Hill in Jiangchuan County. A unique group of hot springs can be found along the banks of Fuxian Lake and Xingyun Lake, with closely packed spring openings stretching from one point to another in the village. |
